NEWTOWN — The case of a former police officer who allegedly stole money from the Newtown Police union has been continued to next month in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Andrew Stinson, 34, the former union president and canine officer for the department, previously pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and third-degree larceny stemming from the theft of some $180,000 in union funds between 2007 and 2010.

He is due back in court on May 19.
