Guilty plea from woman in Modesto union embezzlement

A Stockton woman on Friday in federal court pleaded guilty to stealing money from a Modesto machinists union, the U.S. attorneys office in Sacramento reported.
Tracy Ford, 47, pleaded guilty to embezzling labor union assets and submitting a false financial report to federal authorities. Prosecutors said Ford agreed to pay full restitution and forfeit assets totaling $174,900.
Ford worked as secretary-treasurer of Machinists Local Lodge 1528 in Modesto. Ford embezzled $174,900 in unauthorized salary and benefits, some of it used to pay for health insurance for a former union officer, according to the plea agreement.
