A Teamsters walkout could be on tap for Genesys. Strike talk heated up after negotiators for the medical center presented what they call their last, best and final offer last week.
“They’re telling us ‘take your best shot,” Teamsters Local 332 President Nina Bugbee said.
Some 300 Genesys employees are in the bargaining unit, which includes respiratory therapists, LPNs and paramedics. About half showed up at this morning’s union meeting. Dozens of picket signs have already been made.
After seven months of negotiations, the Teamsters and Genesys management are at an impasse.
“I project a strike will probably be six-to-eight weeks long, maybe more,” Bugbee said.
