Now, here’s something you don’t see every day.  An auto company that’s adding jobs

Spartanburg-based BMW Manufacturing Co. announced Thursday it will add over 500 contingency associates in the next few months as it gets ready to produce the new X3 Sports Activity Vehicle.

BMW’s production model is based on a pull system that only fills confirmed customer orders. The company said strong demand for its vehicles being produced at the plant for 130 markets worldwide also factored into the additional jobs.

The jobs, which will be filled by BMW’s contract staffing partner MAU Inc., are full-time production positions, paying $15 per hour and including health, dental, 401 (k) and vacation benefits, said company spokesman Bobby Hitt.

Apparently, the UAW must not be there.  Oh.  And it helps that South Carolina is a Right-to-Work state.
