Toyota not likely to agree to UAW recruitment terms

Toyota Motor Co. probably won’t agree to let the United Auto Workers openly recruit members at its plants, a top Toyota executive said Thursday.
On Monday, newly elected UAW President Bob King said the union is working on a series of terms that it plans to present to non-union automakers and suppliers.
Agreeing to those terms means the union will respect workers’ decisions to organize or not. Not agreeing means the union will conduct campaigns against the companies, promising to expose any management intimidation of workers.
Steve St. Angelo, Toyota’s North American quality and manufacturing chief, said Toyota will comply with all labor laws, but he does not expect to allow the UAW access to lobby Toyota's workers.
