Harley Davison: Union to Vote on Jobs
Mick Trevey | WTMJ4

Harley Davidson union employees will only have one chance to vote on approving a new contract or else the company will move Wisconsin manufacturing work to another state, according to a letter written to employees by the union president.

The letter was distributed to about 1800 union members on Monday.

“The intention of the company is to allow one vote by September 13,” the letter says.  “There will only be one shot at retaining our work.”

Otherwise,  it says “the Harley-Davidson Board of Directors can vote themselves on whether to allocate monies to Wisconsin Operations or another state.”

Union employees at Harley Davidson have already taken cuts in recent years and were discouraged Wednesday afternoon.

“It’s not looking real good,” said worker John Mineau.  “It’s all just rumors right now and we have to wait and see what the company is going to come down with.”
