UAW president to take part in D.C. rally Saturday

United Auto Workers President Bob King and thousands of UAW members will take part tomorrow in a rally on the National Mall sponsored by a coalition of liberal groups.
King is taking part in the “One Nation Working Together” rally Saturday — a four-hour event that includes other unions, the NAACP, and environmental and student groups.
Organized labor is trying to rally union members to get to the polls for the Nov. 2 midterm elections. Republicans are poised to make major gains and could retake one or both houses of Congress controlled by Democrats, who have embraced most of organized labor’s priorities.
King is returning today to the United States from Europe, where he met with Fiat SpA suppliers in a bid to convince them to bring work to the United States. He also attended the Paris Auto Show
