Over 90 percent of workers voted on Friday and Saturday to authorize a strike, far in excess of the two-thirds vote required, said the United Food and Commercial Workers union.
Mickey Kasparian, the president of UFCW Local 135, said a federal mediator would continue to work toward a resolution, but a strike could be called in five or six days if there are no positive developments.
“If we don’t get a deal, we’ll take this fight to the streets,” Kasparian said.

i say kasparian is thier ring leader and is leading them down the barrell of a shotgun. i see the future jobless strikers and scabs taking over. wouldnt that be something getting rid of the union. where i work we voted the union out and things couldnt be better. all the union is used for is to take your money from your check on a monthly basis. hmmm that sounds something like i want to do where do i sign up. these days unions are becoming obsolete big companies are willing to pay if they arent pushed into a corner.
No actually unions are what give us all those nice benefits and labor laws that the “big companies” would take advantage of if there were no union. Yea lets get rid of the union, then we can go back to using child labor. Yes let us get rid of the unions. Mar is a genius! (Sarcasm)
i did some research on these ufcw presidents. the least that they make per year 250,000.00 per year. so the question is. where is all this money actually going to. like i said its all about the union. getting their pockets fatter. i pay more insurance per week than these grocery stores are asking them to pay. i hope they go on strike. i know for a fact if they strike the contigency plan is to lock down the stores for the first five days. with management keeping the store occupied at all times. ohh did i forget to mention the lay off that will happen all in the name of the almighty union. yeah!!!!!!!!!lets party….
