There’s more follow up (or fall out) on last week’s NLRB decision to classify Northwestern University football players as “employees,” for the purpose of unionization.
The first question being discussed is: Are scholarships now taxable income?
The New York Times has a “primer” on the Northwestern players’ quest to unionize here.
Then, there’s this via ESPN:
Cain Kolter believes (at 2:10) that the NLRB’s decision is “just the beginning” for “all players in all sports.”
One question that still remains unanswered: Just how far will the NLRB’s decision reach?
NCPA president Ramogi Huma thinks it will affect all college sports.
It appears Mr. Colter is right about one thing: Whatever happens going forward, this is just the beginning.
