As the Teamsters press the feds to release the union from federal oversight, it is stories like this that don’t help the union’s cause:
The former head of the Teamsters Local 783 in Louisville is facing federal charges.
Jerry Thomas Vincent, Jr. is accused of embezzling funds from the labor union, making illegal loans, and criminal record keeping violations.
The 53-year-old allegedly skimmed more than $17,000 and arranged for more than $23,000 in illegal loans to himself.Vincent was the Teamsters’ president from 2006 to 2011.
If convicted, he could face up to 23 years in prison.
