Following his posting on Twitter earlier this week that police “should suffer for what they did,” former AFL-CIO organizing director Stewart Acuff has since removed the tweet and apologized for offending “all the good, responsible, & accountable police officers especially union brothers & sisters.”
As riots were raging in Ferguson, MO over the police shooting death of an Michael Brown, Acuff had posted on his Twitter page on Monday:
The cops are pawns who should suffer for what they did. #TrayvonMartin #MikeBrown #EricGarner #inequality

After a post on LaborUnionReport on Tuesday, as well as a follow-on article at the Free Beacon, Acuff removed his offensive tweet and offered these apologetic comments on his Twitter feed.
A union brother police officer called me today about my comments about the police in the Garner & Brown cases. @brandleymatthew @freebeacon

I apologize to all the good, responsible, & accountable police officers especially union brothers & sisters. @brandleymatthew @freebeacon

I'm also reminded that there is an ongoing investigation to determine guilt in Ferguson. May the truth come out.

Depite the tweets offering apology to the offended, Acuff did leave several tweets on his Twitter feed that makes one wonder whether he is sincere about his apologies.
One of them, in referencing the Ferguson shooting (and despite the fact that Acuff mentioned the “ongoing investigation” (above), uses the term “official murder.”
#MikeBrown has awakened Americans to the fight for freedom from official murder, harassment & injustice #p2

As well as this one:
#EricGarner in NY and #MikeBrown in the STL suburb of Ferguson were murdered by the police. #TrayvonMartin

— Stewart Acuff (@stewartacuff) August 18, 2014
The latter tweet has a link to a post on Acuff’s blog that, in addition to blaming police for Mike Brown’s “murder” in Ferguson also lays the blame on Republican politicians, Sean Hannity, Tea Partiers and “right-wing haters.”
And so it is today. Eric Garner in New York and Michael Brown in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson were murdered by the police because a mass of radical right-wing haters afraid of losing their privilege and living in a country where racial equality may become possible with the highest official in the land being a Black man. These right-wingers have created such a disrespect, disdain, and disgust for that Black president that the Congress of the United States have reopened America’s everlasting shame of racist hatred, torture, and murder.
The deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner and Trayvon Martin are on the hands of Mitch McConnell and John Boehner and Eric Cantor and Sean Hannity and the former part-time governor of Alaska and the Tea Partiers and every false prophet of a loving God who preached hatred, anger, and division. [Emphasis added.]
So much for an apology.

Thank goodness Acuff is a FORMER Director. How many reasons do we need that unions are not working?! I look forward to an even greater declination in memebership.
To witness “hatred, anger and division,” Mr. Acuff need look no further than the mirror
