Is The Machinists Union’s Claim of Gun Threats During Boeing Home Visits Bogus?

North Charleston PD
Last week, in the process of announcing that it was withdrawing its petition for an NLRB election at Boeing’s South Carolina plant, the International Association of Machinists claimed that its organizers were threatened at gun point when visting employees’ homes.

It turns out, however, that the union’s claims have not resulted in any known police reports being filed, according to Fox News.

A Charleston police spokesman said there have been no reports of organizers having guns pulled on them in the city.

We haven’t heard of any such reports,” the spokesman. “If it happened, they didn’t call the police.”

A spokesman for the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office also said there had been no reports of gunpoint threats directed at union workers.

“I am unaware of this type of incident occurring in the unincorporated area of Charleston County,” he said.

Calls for comment to North Charleston police department were not returned. [Empahsis added.]

If the union’s organizers were, in fact, threatened at gun point, why hasn’t the union filed a police report?

What possible motivation would the union have in making a claim that its organizers were threatened, yet not file a police report?
