Negotiations between the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the National Automobile Transporters Labor Division, or NATLD, are kicking off negotiations for a new national carhaul contract that covers almost 6,000 employees.

However, according to the Teamsters for a Democratic Union, even though they represent important carhauling locals, Teamsters’ President James P. Hoffa excluded his political opponents from serving on the negotiating committee.

The union committee chosen by James Hoffa and Carhaul Director Kevin Moore omits leaders from important locals, including Local 89, one of the largest carhaul locals, and St Louis Local 604. The leaders of those locals – Fred Zuckerman and John Thyer – are candidates on the Teamsters United slate.

The National Master Automobile Transporters Agreement (NMATA) and its supplements expire on August 31, 2015, according to a Teamster press release.

“We look forward to meeting with the employer group next Wednesday, June 10, to begin negotiations in earnest to address our members’ top concerns, which include protecting their health, welfare and pension benefits and improving job security,” said Kevin Moore, Director of the Teamsters Carhaul Division. “We realize we face many challenging issues, but our committee is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure our members’ interests are addressed at the bargaining table.”

  1. The Hoffa team is NOT interested in Rank and File participation at the Bargaining table, Organizing or Strong Contracts. SO why would they want Real Carhaul Leaders like Fred Zuckerman or John Thyer sitting at the Bargaining table? Oh…that’s right…they didn’t let them participate!

Members had better stay informed and stay engaged. Let’s keep our eyes on the negotiating process and build Solidarity to fight for a STRONG Contract!

  2. Why would hoffa let a legend and great car haul director in when they know he is for the brotherhood and will fight for what is good and right for workers and not the company Fred zuckerman is a stand up man for the brotherhood of teamsters and hoffa knows it .Hoffa should be embarrassed by what he has done to the teamsters thus far with ups.and yrc.he is no leader by far .

    • Article 22 Rail Diversion, has been in our MNATA long before Fred Zuckerman introduced any changes to it. The New Business Language has been abused by the Employers and ignored by the Carhaul Directors and Local Union Leaders. Kevin Moore and Roy Gross, while serving in their positions, have ALLOWED the Employers to screw the Drivers by rendering BOGUS Decisions upon the Ramk & File’s Grievances. Local 327 ALLOWED Cassens Transport Company to run ALL of it’s Traffic out of Spring Hill at the reduced NEW BUSINESS pay rates…
DESPITE the CLEAR FACTS that ALL that Traffic NEVER met the Contractual Obligation or Definition. The Mew Business abuses have been perpetuated by Hoffa supporting Leaders. Thes Hoffa supporting Leaders have stabbed the Rank & File Members in the back and IGNORED our plea for Justice. USE YOUR VOTE in 2016 tp bring Justice tp Hoffa and his Cronies..
FIRE them ALL and Elect the Teamsters United Slate!

PS..if you want to protect YOUR FUTURE& Your Pensions.. FIRE the Hoffa Administration!

  3. The brotherhood of teamsters must step and force Hoffa to let fred zuckerman and John thyer negotiate the car hauls contract nobody knows it better than fred zucketman. What does Hoffa know about car haul, nothing. Let the right deserving people negotiate the brotherhood contracts and Hoffa stay the hell out of our business we r teamsters not imposter wanna bes.

  4. That’s why we got a TA Agreement with nothing but Concessions….. In experiences negotiators trying to lower Our Standards to The Non Union Sector thinking its gonna make it easier for them two to Organize……
