AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka was in front of a Stop & Shop in Connecticut to rally UFCW strikers on Wednesday. Here’s what he said:
NEW HAVEN, CT—Richard Trumka, the president of the AFL-CIO, was in New Haven on Wednesday to rally Stop & Shop strikers.
“We have your back today, tomorrow, for as long as it takes to get you a fair contract,” Trumka told a crowd of about 100, noting he represented 55 unions and 12.5 million members.
Trumka was joined by U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and state Treasurer Shawn Wooden—all Democrats—as well as other union officials.
