WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Roosevelt Institute, a liberal think tank, held its Franklin D. Roosevelt Distinguished Public Service Awards at the Teamsters headquarters (known as the “Marble Palace“) last week.
This year’s honorees were Re. Maxine Waters [D-CA] and Communications Workers of America president Chris Shelton.
According to Influence Watch, the Roosevelt Institute is a “left-leaning think tank that asserts that the system of free-market capitalism is inherently unjust.”
“Proceeding from the premise that free-market capitalism is inherently unjust and prone to periodic collapses caused by its own structural flaws,” states the Discover the Networks website. “RI currently administers several major projects aimed at reshaping the American economy to more closely resemble a socialist system.”
In addition to being the host of the awards, Teamster president James P. Hoffa, as well as American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten are board members of the Roosevelt Institute.
