As a strike that began in October approaches six months, there appears to be no end in sight for hundreds of Steelworkers.
A United Steelworkers’ strike in Arizona and Texas against alleged unfair labor practices that began in early October is nearing the six-month mark, and the union says ASARCO is refusing to negotiate with the union.
The United Steelworkers said Grupo Mexico, which owns ASARCO, has not come to the table for negotiations in at least three months, reports MyHighPlains.com
“The union has tapped its strike relief fund,” reported the AZCentral.com last month, “and some workers have had to take temporary jobs to help pay the bills.”
