Union representation for more than 18,000 correctional officers will change to the Teamsters following a vote counted this morning.
Officers in Florida prisons had been represented by the Florida Police Benevolent Association. But Teamsters officials initiated a challenge earlier this year.
During preliminary counting on Wednesday by the state’s Public Employees Relations Commission, 7,655 mailed ballots were validated. The count concluded this morning. Teamsters, 4,096
PBA, 3,015
IUPA, 116
No union, 154
