In Indiana, the Teamsters and the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation are in disagreement, according to 14news.com, over whether or not district employees should be required to pay union dues as a condition of employment.
We’re told one of the main issues between EVSC and Teamsters is that EVSC would like to give their employees a choice as to whether or not they would like to be part of the union.
Right now, there are 680 EVSC employees, including bus drivers, aids, and secretaries, who are eligible to be part of the union.
As a union member, school employees have to pay dues to EVSC for Teamsters. If they don’t, EVSC could be forced to fire them.
