A Poll For Union Members On The 2016 Race for President

24
In this photo taken May 20, 2015, Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., poses for a portrait before an interview with The Associated Press in Washington. For Democrats who had hoped to lure Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren into a presidential campaign, independent Sen. Bernie Sanders might be the next best thing. Sanders, who is opening his official presidential campaign Tuesday in Burlington, Vermont, aims to ignite a grassroots fire among left-leaning Democrats wary of Hillary Rodham Clinton. He is laying out an agenda in step with the party's progressive wing and compatible with Warren's platform _ reining in Wall Street banks, tackling college debt and creating a government-financed infrastructure jobs program. Among the list of “declared” and “undeclared” candidates below, let us know who your choice would be.

    • I’m going to assume you’re talking about Bernie Sanders? He is Rated 100% by the AFL-CIO, indicating a pro-union voting record.

    • Phil the Pitcher: Are your a Republican, anti-union troll because your posts certainly appear that way. No worker in their right mind would think the you do here. I believe you are a troll but I also believe that your stupid assertions should not go unchallenged with the truth.

Firstly, taxes on the wealthiest were successful and built this country up to what it was in the 1950’s, under Eisenhower and under the fastest growth of working people’s wages this country has ever seen. So your canard about raising taxes on the wealthy and corporations effecting working people is complete rubbish. The tax rate under Eisenhower was as high as 90% for some of the wealthiest, somehow they survived.

There’s a name for people who lick the boots of their oppressive masters and make sacrifices for themselves and their brothers and sisters in order to please the powerful. I’ll let others fill in those blanks. Suffice it to say; if the shoe fits, wear it.

Also, your comment about “bums” getting an education at your expense is absolutely ignorant and also a position no working person should ever support. “Bums” are often working people who cannot get decent pay and living standards and haven’t had the support of union organizing. Also, public education is a constitutionally mandated right and requirement for a democratic government. Study your history.

Also your claim about “illegals taking union jobs” only holds water when you consider that corporations have successfully used the racist card with idiots like you to keep workers from being organized and brought into the union umbrella as fighters with us, not against us. Your assumption (a Republican lie told often to racist morons) that the Democrats by putting humanity and justice first, somehow cause your jobs to be lost is a lie. The corporations and the Republicans who enable them by creating a tiered system of citizenship are the ones to blame and they do it to kill unions.

The only reason unions are losing to the immigration issue is because racist assholes refuse to work to organize undocumented workers or work to eliminate “illegal” status altogether which would force the end of human trafficking and take the power out of the sails of that anti-union effort.

People get paid per comment to troll. I guess you made your two cents Phil by pitching bullshit, but the clean-up crew has come in. Good riddance to you.

  1. The Dems haven’t stood up for us in years.I will probably never vote for the Repubs, but, tired of the Dems taking us for granted. It’s way past time for them to start sticking up for us union members.Every gop governor out there is introducing legislation to harm Unions, yet I hardly ever hear any Dems speak out against it nationally……

  2. It’s time for a shake up…who isn’t sick of the Bush’s and Clinton’s being so self absorbed and self centered…Bernie is selfless and knows who he is and what he is….a whole different ball of wax….I’m gonna follow him all the way through..GO BERNIE

  3. Keep voting for the retards that want to take away your freedoms and bring in illegal aliens to take your jobs via non union. New York City is already losing and the rest of the unions are next.

  4. I think bernie actually said 64% that the tax level he wants so you can pay for a bums education and not your childrens.

  5. I’m with a teacher’s union in GA and we haven’t had a cost of living increase in years either. Everything I’ve heard about Bernie, he’s very strong for unions. I looked at the material he’s selling on his presidential campaign site. All union made. If you’re voting for Clinton, expect more of the same.

  6. Larry Phelps: Where are you? Bernie has always had very strong views about supporting workers and the importance of worker justice. Go to his website and read about him.

Also, his support financially is 100% union and some minor non-profits (disability groups, etc.). Bernie is solid and has been constitent for his entire career. Unfortunately many people in parts of the country outside the Northeast haven’t heard of him.

Its his challenge to get out there and get in front of the people. That is where he thrives; he is truly a man of the people. Take the time to learn more about him. (Disclaimer: I like Bernie, but I would wish a candidate from the Greens would come forward, I put this information out so people can be informed about a person who truly is unique compared to the standard fare we’ve been served).

    Here’s some links about Bernie:

    https://berniesanders.com/ – official campaign site

http://www.dsausa.org/ – official site of the DSA, the organization Bernie has been an open member of for years, considered by many on the far-left to be “socialism lite”

http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=Career&cid=n00000528&type=I – Bernie Sander’s top donors listed. This is a great site for info on candidates, congress critters and big corporations across the country, not just Bernie!

  7. As a proud member of the IBEW, I think I speak for my whole local when I say that Bernie Sanders seems to be the only politician I’ve ever seen that truly understands what needs to be done. There’s no hope or change messages, it’s strait up let’s eradicate free trade agreements, break up big banks, tax Wall Street transactions, revitalize manufacturing, re establish a dwindling middle class, free tuition, free health care, (which could potentially be fully paid for by a that simple aforementioned wall st. tax), and hopefully no more of this “right to work for nothing” bullshit. Let’s get somebody in the Oval Office that’s worth our vote.

  8. The rank n’ file are lining up w/ Bernie, now we must keep the leadership on the straight and narrow, give Bernie a “fair shake!”

  9. Republicans don’t support unions and democrats let people come from other countries to do our job for 10 dollars an hour… Union Carpenter
