In Profanity-Laced Tirade, CWA President Calls Verizon Exec A “Piece of Sh*t” At Union Rally

Last weekend, at a large rally in New York City, the new president of the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Chris Shelton, ripped into Verizon and its management, calling Verizon’s Executive Vice President a “piece of sh*t,” as well as using other profane terms in describing the telecommunications giant’s executives.

Verizon’s contract with the CWA and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) expires at midnight, August 1st, and the unions have gotten strike authorization from their respective 39,000 members—which means the unions can call their members out on strike as soon as their contracts expire.

Toward the end of the CWA’s president’s speech, he asks the crowd whether they are ready to go out and “kick some a**” on August 1.

“Union rallies and strike authorization votes are useless distractions that achieve nothing”, Verizon said in its own statement “We believe their time would be far more beneficial focusing on the important contractual issues that need to be resolved”.

STRONG LANGUAGE WARNING:

Seperately, according to the CWA’s website, Chris Shelton was installed to the AFL-CIO’s Executive Committee and Executive Council earlier this week.

CWA President Chris Shelton has been installed as a member of the AFL-CIO Executive Council. He also was named to the Executive Committee, the group that is the governing body of the AFL-CIO between Executive Council meetings; the Executive Committee includes the president of the ten biggest AFL-CIO affiliates.

  1. Verizon is the worst employer in corporate America. If Chris Shelton calls out one of their executives with profanity it is well deserved. The damage they have done to their employees is incomprehensible. If his language offends some then they should be apoplectic at Verizon’s hideous treatment of their workers. I worked there years ago and it was a cesspool it has only worsened.
