AFL-CIO chief offers to assist CBA process

The effort to strike a new labor deal between the NFL and the NFLPA continues to become more and more unusual. It’s threatening to eventually melt into the realm of the freakin’ bizarre.
Most recently, the president of the AFL-CIO has offered to get involved in the process, per SportsBusiness Daily.
But the AFL-CIO already has declared itself to be a non-neutral party, via a recent letter sent to all NFL owners in which, among other things, the AFL-CIO expressed disappointment with the league’s refusal to disclose comprehensive financial information.
The move looks like an effort by the AFL-CIO to generate some free publicity, or yet another questionable (in our opinion) P.R. move from the union.
