Teamsters Local 25 is threatening a strike by drivers and other employees working for Dunkin’ Brands’ largest distributor.
The union claims that the Dunkin’ Donuts Northeast DCP in Bellingham is stalling contract negotiations in an attempt to bust it.
“A strike is imminent unless they come to their senses,” Local 25 president Sean O’Brien said. “It’s going to happen sooner or later if we can’t resolve four major issues . . . health and welfare, union security, wages and job security.”
The Northeast DCP is a cooperative owned by regional Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins franchise owners that serves both chains throughout New England. It can seek to decertify the union if an initial contract isn’t reached by August, the one-year date of when the 200 workers voted to join the Teamsters.
No word whether the Boston PD will honor the picket lines.
