The United Steelworkers have been on strike for nearly a year at Vale Inco’s nickel mines in Sudbury (Canada). Now, with a tentative deal in hand, the strike may soon be over.
More than 3,100 workers at Vale operations in Sudbury and Port Colborne will vote on a tentative new contract this week that could end a strike that started almost a year ago.
The United Steelworkers and Vale reached agreement on Sunday to resolve a dispute over nine fired workers during the strike that had held up a membership vote on a five year deal last week.
